Loss changes the shape of a life. It might be the death of someone you love, the end of a relationship, a pet, a job, a role, or a future you had planned. Grief doesn't follow a schedule, and it rarely looks the way other people expect.
At Feel-Good Therapy, we offer individual grief and loss counselling, in person in Newmarket and online anywhere in Ontario.
How people describe grief
"I can't seem to move past it."
"I feel numb, and then it hits me out of nowhere."
"I'm angry, and I don't know who at."
"I keep thinking I should be handling this better."
There's no right way to grieve, and you don't have to explain yourself here.
How we work with loss
Our approach is narrative and solution-focused. We don't ask you to "get over it" or to find closure on a timetable. In narrative therapy, grief is often understood as a relationship that continues in a changed form, so we make room for the person, place or life you've lost, and for what they mean to you now.
We ask careful questions about what you valued, what you've carried with you, and what you would want to honour. We also pay attention to how you've been coping, including the small things that have helped on hard days, and we keep a gentle focus on what would help a little right now.
You set the pace, and you won't be asked to share more than you're ready to.
