Depression can feel like living under a black cloud. Things that used to matter lose their colour, energy runs low, and it gets hard to explain to the people around you what is going on.
You don't have to carry it alone. At Feel-Good Therapy, we offer individual counselling for adults with depression and low mood, in person in Newmarket and online anywhere in Ontario.
How people describe depression
Our clients put it in their own words:
"I'm living under a black cloud of sadness."
"I don't enjoy things the way I used to."
"I feel like I'm not good enough."
"I'm tired all the time, and I don't know why."
You don't need the right words or a diagnosis to begin.
How we work with depression
Our approach is narrative and solution-focused. In narrative therapy, the person is not the problem; the problem is the problem. Depression often arrives with a story about who you are: that you are a burden, a failure, or beyond help.
We work to separate you from that story and to ask where it came from and what it leaves out. We look for the parts of your life that depression hasn't managed to take: what you still care about, moments when you handled something hard, and small exceptions to the heaviness.
Solution-focused questions keep us oriented toward what would be a little different if things were a little better. You set the pace, and you won't be asked to share more than you're ready to.
